This chess model was made in my spare time in Autodesk Maya, based on an actual chess set I own. I later used this to make 2D sprites for a chess game I made in SFML.
- Modelled the Pawn and Rook
- Started modelling the Bishop, and made the base for the King and Queen
- Started modelling the King and Queen
- Started a rough outline of the Knight
- Smoothed out the edges
- Finished modelling all the pieces
- Modelled the chess board, and copied and positioned all the pieces on it
- Added colour to the board and pieces
- Originally, each square on the board was modelled individually. To make things faster and reduce the number of polygons, I made the board flat, and added a checkerboard image.
